Jes Fomsgaard's works encompasses architectural constructions and the anatomy of the human body through hints back to Antiquity and the Renaissance.

Cross sections of vaulted ceilings and torso details are reproduced in sketch-like drawings, in which sometimes small plaster reliefs are inserted.

The pictures radiate mathematical precision and order, but at the same time imaginative constructions and spontaneous notes are added to this rational harmony.


Commissions
Jes Fomsgaard has done many public commissions among others The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture and University of Copenhagen.

Recently Fomsgaard has done a commission for Frederiksberg Gymnasium designed by the dansih architect Henning Larsen's Tegnestue. The school was inaugurated January 2004.
